Netflix's Da 5 Bloods Picture

This isn’t Spike Lee’s first project for Netflix—his TV series reboot of She’s Gotta Have It got two seasons on the streaming service. He’s got more previously announced projects in the works—a film adaptation of David Byrne’s American Utopia Broadway show and the hip-hop Romeo & Juliet story Prince of Cats. His classic Do the Right Thing returned to theaters for its 30th anniversary last year.

Lee’s last feature film, 2018’s BlacKkKlansman, was nominated for multiple Oscars. When it lost Best Picture to Green Book, Spike Lee attempted to walk out of the televised ceremony. (“It wasn’t my cup of tea,” he explained at the time.)
