Eminem confronted a home intruder in his living room after the suspect slipped past his sleeping security guards, according to a report Thursday.
The US rapper was asleep at 4am when the man broke a kitchen window using a paving stone, setting off an alarm that woke the inhabitants of the house.
A representative for Slim Shady told XXL, though, that Eminem was the one who detained Hughes till cops showed up. Hughes faces a pair of felonies, home invasion and malicious destruction of a building was held on $50,000 bond on April 6.
Apparently, Hughes just wanted some face time with the rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, TMZ reports.
Eminem - real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III - is well-known for his 2000 track "Stan" which tells the story of an over zealous fan who becomes a stalker, named Stanley "Stan" Mitchell.
The influential song is where the term "stan culture" comes from, describing dedicated fans of famous stars, who refer to themselves as "stans."
The song is a cautionary tale to fans about taking everything your idol says literally.
In the lyrics, Eminem reveals how the character Stan starts writing him several letters, over three verses, where he becomes more obsessive and angrier when he doesn't get a reply from the star.
