
United Kingdom’s human rights Karim Ahmed Khan has been voted the new International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor.
Khan takes over from incumbent Fatou Bensouda whose tenure has been rocked into controversies leading to her sanctions by the United States.
Bensouda’s problems with Washington arose following her investigations into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as well as the Afghanistan war.

Khan’s entrance, therefore, brings new blood into the Hague based outfit. The 50 year- old has had a spanning career litigating several ICC cases, including appearing for the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s son Seif al-Islam.

He has also appeared for Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto who was facing crimes against humanity alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta.
