Following the news of Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth’s death at the age of 99, the majority of the netizens raised questions about whether Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle will attend his funeral especially from the recent tension within the Royal Family following the couple’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey a few weeks ago.
Well, according to several reports, Prince Harry will be returning to the United Kingdom to attend his grandfather’s funeral on Saturday 17th April, however, he will not be accompanied by the Duchess of Sussex. This is after Meghan who is pregnant with their second child was advised not to travel by her doctors due to the advanced stage of her pregnancy. Harry who enjoyed a close bond with his late grandfather, is expected to self-isolate before the funeral in line with government guidelines.
On Saturday, Buckingham Palace announced the funeral arrangements, with the ceremonial royal funeral set to take place on the afternoon of Saturday 17 April at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle in accordance with Prince Philip’s wishes. The funeral will celebrate his life and service. He will be laid to rest at the private chapel and his body will be interred in the royal vault.
There will be no public access to the funeral nor will a procession take place on the day but instead, the funeral ceremony will be broadcasted on BBC and a minute’s silence will be observed. Notably, members of the public are advised not to travel to Windsor and to watch the funeral on TV.
