Burger King has announced that it will accept Dogecoin, the Shiba-Inu themed cryptocurrency, for its dog treats in Brazil. Even though the initial Twitter announcement made it seem like the company was accepting Dogecoin for regular groceries, a subsequent tweet posted at least two hours after the first clarified that the company was ready to accept digital currency for ” Dogpper, ”the Dog Treatment was introduced in 2019. Dogecoin started out as a joke, but was hugely popularized by billionaire Elon Musk, who often tweets about it. His views on Twitter have often been the reason cryptocurrency stocks have rallied.
On July 27, Burger King Brazil first tweeted, “Hi, tudo bem Dogecoin? Remember this day: Burger King Brazil is now accepting Dogecoin! He also added the hashtags Dogpper, BKDogpper, and SayYesToDogecoin to his tweet.

Could this be the first step towards adopting Dogecoin as a payment method for future food sales? Well, for now, Burger King has limited the use of Dogecoin to purchasing dog treats.
