Khalif Kairo warns against getting involved in politics and says he regrets it.

Khalif Kairo, an automobile salesman and businessman, has stated that his involvement in Kenyan politics is his greatest regret in recent years.

Kairo told content creator Andrew Kibe that he entered politics in the hopes of enacting change but soon lost hope.

Particularly during the 2024 anti-Finance Bill protests, when he was spotted actively taking part in rallies in Nairobi, Kairo felt he might have an impact. However, he quickly discovered that politics was not what he had anticipated.

He called the experience "so murky," stating that there are many obstacles in the political sphere, particularly for newbies. Kairo cautioned other business owners against getting involved in politics, particularly if their companies are doing well.

“If you have a business that’s working, stay away from Kenyan politics. Don’t even get close to it,” he said.

He also blamed the voters for the messy system. He said the same people who complain about bad leadership often end up supporting the very leaders causing problems. He explained that fresh voices like his are quickly abandoned and even attacked by those they try to help.

Kairo’s brief political involvement was followed by a series of legal issues involving his car dealership. He was arrested and faced fraud allegations, which he believes were connected to his political activity. He has since been released and is now focusing on rebuilding his business and staying low-key.

Reflecting on his time in custody, Kairo shared that it taught him important life lessons. He was advised by those close to him to keep his personal life private and focus on his growth. Some even told him to avoid women, saying they could be a distraction during difficult times.
