Forex trader Sammy Boy reveals that he once lost a staggering Ksh18 million while trading

In a candid interview, forex trader Sammy Boy revealed the startling amount of money he lost in a single transaction: Ksh18 million. Speaking with host Dr. Ofweneke, Sammy Boy provided a unique and unedited look into the high-stakes world of forex trading, outlining the risks and common misconceptions about it.

When questioned about his biggest loss in his career, Sammy Boy did not hesitate.

“The most amount I have lost, genuinely, is around Ksh18 million,” he confessed.

He explained that such large losses are an unavoidable element of the trading game, which is typically hidden from the public eye. Sammy observed that, while social media frequently highlights traders' enormous wins and luxury lifestyles, it rarely depicts the behind-the-scenes financial disasters that are also a reality of the business.

During the discussion, Sammy Boy also discussed a recent internet spoof by comedian Flaqo Raz that mocked forex traders. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the portrayal, claiming that it presented an inaccurate view of the profession and could be a "discouraging factor" for young people interested in the field. He noted that such comical portrayals can be detrimental to young traders who are still learning about the industry.

Sammy, whose trading journey began during the COVID-19 pandemic, shared that he got into the industry after widespread job losses. He noted that despite the significant risks involved, forex trading has become a popular pursuit for many young people in Kenya. His revelation highlights both the lucrative potential of the industry and the very real possibility of substantial financial losses.
