In the tragic traffic accident that occurred on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway today, 4 people died at the scene.
The unfortunate accident occurred when a 14-person matatu on the highway, on which they were traveling in the Kerita region, crashed into a trailer.
Confirming the incident, Uasin Gishu District Police Commander Ayub Gitonga noted that Matatu was speeding before recklessly overtaking, thus crashing into the trailer and killing the passengers.
The police have since moved the bodies of the deceased to the Moi Training and Referral Hospital morgue for safekeeping, while the injured were taken to the same facility for prompt and timely medical attention.
This preventable tragedy was reported in the Nyanza region, where a Nissan Shuttle collided with a car, resulting in three more deaths and 36 serious injuries in two separate accidents.
According to the information obtained, it was stated that the Nissan driver died at the scene and the other two people in the vehicle were injured while receiving treatment.
Seven other passengers on the Nissan shuttle were injured and are receiving treatment at Kisii Training and Referral Hospital in Kisii County.
On the same front, 16 people, including their 9-month-old twins, were injured in the crash of a bus to Busia, when the Acacia bus collided with a truck and were taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Training and Referral Hospital in Kisumu county.
