Famous Jamaican dance hall sensation Garfield Spence, popularly known as Konshens in entertainment circles, has revealed that he has drawn many fans from Kenya's capital city of Nairobi, where he performed on the New Year's Eve show.
This is why Konshens noted that Kenyans play an important role in his music career and therefore continues to fly to the country for music shows.
YouTube shared its statistics on social media and Nairobi topped the list with 4.63 million people posting their music on the video sharing platform.
The largest city in the United States, New York with 2.05 million views, is the second, followed by England's largest metropolis London (1.4 million), Kingston Jamaica (1.32 million), the first incorporated city of the state of California San José ( 1.02 million) million), Paris (845,000), Panama City (779,000), Nicaragua's capital Managua (666,000), and Toronto in Canada with 581,000 views.
In an extensive interview with G Money, Konshens explained that her love for fans is timeless because they are the ones responsible for her rise to stardom.
Konshens said that he had a difficult time starting his music career as he was not signed to any record label at the time and was dependent on his fans to further his music.
G Money went on and asked the singer why he always reaches out to artists from the East African country whenever he comes to a show, and Konshens admitted that Kenyan musicians are competent and adept and he loves their music.
“I really didn't want to comment on this because these guys (Kenyan artists) were crazy,” Konshens joked, adding: “For me bro, as a music fan, I know what I want to see. For example, if someone like Drake is coming to Jamaica, ask 'What's hot in Jamaica?' I would like to see what you say. Jamaica. And I'm not just doing that in Kenya."
Kenyan artists who once worked with Konshens include Gengetone music group Ethic, recording artist Pryshon Africa and songwriter Sechi Love.
