Capital FM's Alex Nderi aka DJ Lithium has passed away.
The famous DJ died in a hospital in Nairobi on Wednesday evening.
Reports indicate that the radio station took rat poison while in the Lonhro House offices. A suicide note was found at the scene.
Shortly after swallowing the poison, Dj Lithium collapsed, whereupon his colleagues tried to resurrect him, to no avail. He was taken to the hospital where he died.
Confirming the incident, Kilimani police chief Muturi Mbogo said they had collected a large number of items at the crime scene to assist them in their investigations. "After a series of events, we understand that he swallowed poison in his office."
Prior to his untimely death, DJ Lithium apparently deleted all of his social media accounts. He also said goodbye to his close friends and family.
Capital FM management has asked the public to respect family privacy at this difficult time.
“Alex was a great addition to the larger Capital FM team, encompassing great talent as a DJ and producer, and having an interesting sense of “right-wing” humor,” said Danny Munyi, Stations Program Director.
"To honor him, we will celebrate his passion for this company, directly to the breakfast team, to other mixxmasters, and cherish the moments shared with him." has passed away.
