One man was killed in the Oxon Hill shooting, a youngster was injured, and a third man tripped while fleeing the scene. The episode occurred in the Eastover Shopping Center in Prince George's County, Maryland, near the Washington, D.C. border. The incident came just days after the Trump administration launched a 'crime blitz' in Washington, D.C.

A shooting near the Eastover Shopping Center in Oxon Hill, Maryland, killed one person and injured at least one others, authorities confirmed Wednesday afternoon.


The shooting occurred at 2 p.m. on the 5100 block of Indian Head Highway Service Road, according to Prince George's County police.

Police stated both of the victims shot were male. One man died at the site, while a teenage boy was brought to the hospital. The teen's injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to a post from Prince George's County Police.

Police claimed a third person fled the scene without being taken to a hospital. The third individual who did not receive medical attention 'was hurt just trying to get away from the situation,' according to WTOP, with the male suffering injuries after falling to the ground as they left.

The event occurred just days after the Trump administration issued a 'crackdown' on violence in Washington, D.C. in order to make the area'safer'.

According to the Hill, National Guard troops and federal officers were stationed mostly in tourist hotspots and other wealthy areas of the city.

Of the 556 arrests made by the White House since expanding federal law enforcement presence on August 7, nearly half, 233, have been labeled as migrants without legal status, according to a White House official.

Police say Wednesday's shooting is still under investigation. No information about any suspect(s) was immediately available.

Police were yet to explain what prompted the shooting.
